Shae Lambert, MPA

She is an advocate for and ally of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking survivors, and has been actively involved in helping these communities across the country. Shae currently volunteers at Bethany House of Northern Virginia and works as a Domestic Violence Liaison for the Metropolitan Police Department in Wards 6 and 7 in the District of Columbia. She previously served on the Young Professionals Board at Cornerstone Women’s shelter in Bloomington, Minnesota, where she was not only a board member, but a weekly volunteer, and advocate. In New York, Shae helped facilitate sexual assault bystander intervention training with the New York City Alliance against Sexual Assault on her college campus.

Background

She received her B.A. in History from Minnesota State University Mankato, where her senior thesis was on Femicide in Juarez, Mexico. She continued on this educational path and is a class of 2020 graduate from the Long Island University Master of Public Administration Program. Her areas of research included the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses, and the disproportionate targeting and sex trafficking of Indigenous women in the Midwest. Shae recently graduated from her second Master’s program at Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master's certification in Gender Violence Intervention.

Her recent research included using intersectionality and feminist theory to research how domestic violence affects black women and their mental health, and the prevalence of sex trafficking foster care children within the United States. She will use her education and work experience to create legislation to bridge the gap between a survivor’s needs and the road to recovery.

Within pageantry she uses her platform to educate her community about these topics, provide insight on ways to help, and actively volunteers to help various women’s centers and organizations across the country to meet the current and future needs of survivors.
